Competency (This section describes your natural gifting and talents.)
What are your natural skills/talents?
-
The Lord has given me skills in leadership, program management, communication, and youth development. He has gifted me talents in music, creativity, and service.
Are you most comfortable behind the scenes or out in front?
-
I have done both & am comfortable in both, but I'm most comfortable out in front.
In what ways has spiritual growth been evident in your life in the past 6 months?
-
I would say spiritual growth has been most evident to me at home. About 7 months ago, I moved back to East Stroudsburg to help out my sister & her boyfriend with their soon-to-be-at-the-time, now 1 month old daughter, India. This transition has grown my dependence on the Lord in many ways - namely leaning on Him to show me how to be a light in my home through word & deed, and for growth in the spiritual fruit of patience. He's grown in me greater confidence to share the gospel with those in my home, not just outside of it. In this time, I have seen God redeem a lot in my sibling relationship, and I couldn't be more thankful for that.
How do you see your natural skills/talents being used by God for the building up of the body of Christ?
-
I have already seen it in various ministries over the last few years! Getting to see our youth of CoYo grow into more mature disciples of the Lord only bodes well for the future of the church (both big C and little c). Participating in worship ministry and getting to lead the Christmas Choir, I've gotten to be a part of and help lead the church in greater appreciation & worship of our Heavenly Father. And through that, getting to see deeper relationships form & grow, which leads to deeper fellowship with one another & excitement to bring others into it.
Chemistry (This section will help identify how well you will fit in with the culture of Cornerstone.)
How do you believe you will fit in well with our Board?
-
I am a question guy. In conversation, questions help us learn more about who you're speaking to. In leadership, questions help us refine, improve, and find what works and stick to it! I believe I can be a curious voice on the Board - not for the sake of questioning things or being a contrarian - but for our growth and greater cohesion.
Why do you want to join the Board?
-
I want to join the Board because I have seen the amazing work our leaders have put in for the betterment of our church. I believe they have not only done a great job caring for those inside, but also outside of our campuses. And I believe that I can help add to that care.
How do you see yourself best serving at your campus?
-
Something we've talked about in my Community Group is finding & building relationship with our church deacons and elders. To know who they are & build closer ties so that when our members have ideas & concerns, they have a familiar face to turn to. With the growing community at Second Street (praise the Lord), I believe I can be one of those faces.
Capacity (This section identifies your bandwidth and how much you are able to take on.)
Do you work well with large groups, small groups? Older people, younger? Do you have particular passions for areas in our church (I.e.-Elderly, poor, etc)
-
I have worked well in both large and small groups, older and younger folks. I would say I have a passion for the young people of our church.
How important is Cornerstone in the midst of all that is going on in your life?
-
Very important! Even living a bit further away, I have made a point to travel to/around our church for various groups and ministries several times a week.
Where have you served in our church previously?
-
CoYo, Worship Team, and Choir.
Calling (This section is a combination of confirmation on behalf of the current elders/deacons and your spiritual gifts as outlined in the spiritual gifts assessment.)
Are you being nominated for Elder or Deacon?
-
Deacon
What are your spiritual Gift(s)?
-
Faith & Serving
What areas of church life or ministry are you most passionate about?
-
I'm already there! Getting to serve our youth with a wonderful team of leaders under J.R., making a joyful noise each month under Matt's direction, and getting to direct the beautiful voices & people in our choir have been very life-giving to me over the last few years I've been at Cornerstone.
